Job summary

Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, ME is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician I to perform venipuncture and specimen processing under supervision. The role includes data entry, clerical duties, and specimen handling for diverse patient ages.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy training program or equivalent on-the-job training with documented competency required.
• Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician preferred.
• BLS certification within forty-five days of hire and maintained current, according to hospital requirement.
• Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform skin puncture or venipuncture on patients of all ages for obtaining blood specimens.
• Demonstrate proper phlebotomy technique and use of equipment.
• Process specimens across microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry and blood bank.
• Stock routine supplies and maintain cleanliness of storage areas and workspaces.
• Enter data, answer phones, and assist with clerical tasks as needed.
• Support department staff and assist with specimen logistics and referrals.
