Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection per policies to ensure accuracy
• Ensure positive patient identification using two identifiers and proper labeling at bedside
• Prepare, package, and transport specimens to the lab maintaining sample integrity
• Explain procedures to patients to provide reassurance and address concerns
• Clean, sterilize, and maintain phlebotomy equipment and workspace according to safety standards
• Document patient and specimen information accurately in the laboratory system
• Collect timed specimens as ordered and prioritize tasks to meet clinical needs
• Identify and resolve specimen issues and recollect samples when necessary
• Collaborate with healthcare team to clarify orders and communicate specimen status
• Adhere to all laboratory and hospital safety requirements and policies
• Maintain regular attendance and comply with all policies
