Qualifications

• Six months of acute care phlebotomy experience or one year in an outpatient lab setting preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience and ability to collect venous and capillary samples.
• Knowledge of labeling, logging, and specimen processing per protocols.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipunctures and capillary punctures to collect blood specimens as ordered.
• Properly labels, logs, and processes specimens according to laboratory protocols.
• Prepares collection trays and restocks work areas.
• Provides clear instructions to patients regarding collection procedures and tests.
• Monitors patient condition during collection to ensure safety.
• Documents specimen collection in the LIS.
• Assists with clerical tasks including filing and data entry.
• Ensures compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
