Qualifications

• Current CPR/BLS for Healthcare Providers card upon hire.
• One year of phlebotomy experience in an acute care hospital preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills preferred.
• Ability to demonstrate competence in performing duties and responsibilities related to tasks, skills, and procedures for the appropriate age group served.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to abide by CMC and department policies and procedures.
• Reliable attendance to support the required quality and quantity of work.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with coworkers, clients, members, providers, and customers.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age served in the unit.
• Knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and collect blood specimens from patients.
• Prepare and label specimens accurately for laboratory testing.
• Maintain proper documentation of all procedures performed.
• Follow established protocols and safety guidelines for specimen collection.
• Ensure patient comfort and provide clear instructions for specimen collection.
• Perform vital sign measurements as required.
• Assist with other laboratory tasks as needed.
