Qualifications

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection for patients across all age groups.
• Verify patient identity and ensure accurate labeling of all specimens.
• Explain procedures clearly to patients and provide reassurance to ensure comfort and cooperation.
• Monitor patients for adverse reactions and respond appropriately.
• Deliver patient-centered care with respect for cultural sensitivity and community values.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, label, and transport specimens in accordance with established laboratory protocols.
• Ensure proper handling requirements are maintained, including temperature control and time sensitivity.
• Accession specimens into laboratory systems accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain specimen integrity and minimize errors or delays.
• Adhere to all applicable IHS policies, infection control procedures, and safety standards.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements.
• Utilize appropriate PPE and keep a clean, safe working environment.
• Document all procedures and patient interactions accurately.
• Assist with laboratory support tasks and clerical duties as needed.
