Job summary

Maxim Healthcare is seeking a Personal Care Assistant to support clients with day-to-day activities, mobility, and personal care in home or school settings. The role follows a care plan established by a rehabilitation health practitioner or other health professional.

Responsibilities include assisting with transfers, hygiene, companionship, and adherence to HIPAA privacy policies, while coordinating with home, school, and health resources.

Qualifications

• State licensure or certification as required by state or program.
• One year of relevant experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Provides services to persons who need help with day-to-day activities.
• Demonstrates competence in performing necessary skills per the plan of care.
• Provides health care tasks, personal hygiene services, and related support for client health.
• Assists with transfers and ambulation.
• Aids teacher in student assistance and provides feedback to students and supervisors.
• Performs incidental household services integral to the care plan.
• In school settings, accompanies student on bus to/from school.
• Provides companionship by reading, listening, and talking with client.
• May supervise students during recess and lunch periods and accompany them on community experiences.
• Strictly adheres to confidentiality requirements.
• Supports client self-care in toileting, dressing, and personal hygiene.
• Implements behavior management techniques as directed by supervisor.
• Reports changes in client status as directed by care plan.
• Maintains confidentiality of all client information.
• Adheres to HIPAA privacy policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
