Job summary

New Purpose is looking for a compassionate Personal Assistant to provide direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will help with daily living, life-skills development, and community participation, while promoting independence and dignity.

Training is provided, and candidates should be reliable, patient, and communicative. The role involves flexible scheduling, documentation duties, and collaboration with a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Requires a caring, person-centered approach to support individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Demonstrates strong communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to follow individual support plans and agency policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living, personal care, meals, and household tasks.
• Support development of life skills and independence.
• Administer medications after becoming certified and monitor for side effects.
• Maintain accurate daily notes and medication records.
• Promote health and safety, report any abuse or concerns promptly.
• Help with community activities and transportation as needed.
• Collaborate with team, families, and other supporters.
