Job summary

NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital is seeking a Messenger Transporter to move patients within the Medical Center using beds, stretchers, or wheelchairs. You will greet patients, verify identities, and escort them safely to designated locations, while following infection control and safety procedures.

The role requires good interpersonal skills, ability to lift or move items up to 150 pounds, and the ability to work with a team. Prior experience with hospital transport is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be able to speak, read, understand, and follow simple directions in English.
• Some motor dexterity is required.
• Good interpersonal skills are necessary.

Responsibilities

• Greets patient in a polite manner and assists in transferring patients using bed, stretcher, or wheelchair.
• Verifies patient identification to ensure correct transport and communicates arrival to receivers.
• Notifies Dispatcher of issues and uses the Patient Tracking Software to update status.
• Ensures safety procedures and log updates are completed for each transport.
