Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital - Brooklyn is seeking a Patient Escort to safely move patients and equipment between clinical areas in a fast-paced hospital setting. The role requires attention to safety, accuracy, and patient confidentiality.

You will coordinate with nursing and tech staff, maintain proper PPE, document transports, and ensure punctuality and professionalism during every shift. High school diploma required; 2+ years relevant preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Good patient care abilities and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Completes patient moves to correct destination as assigned.
• Communicates with Nursing and Test Area Techs on arrival and departure.
• Follows standard precautions; uses PPE for isolation patients.
• Communicates transport status using proper radio codes.
• Responds promptly to dispatcher calls via 2-way radio.
• Swipes in/out through Kronos at assigned locations.
• Maintains productivity and safety during transport.
• Operates stretchers, wheelchairs, beds and related equipment safely.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
• Interacts with patients to explain procedures and reduce anxiety.
• Verifies patient identifiers before moving patients.
• Greets patients on arrival and explains next steps.
• Arrives on time in uniform with ID badge visible.
