Job summary

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Patient Transporter to safely and promptly move patients and visitors, delivering a compassionate, empathetic experience. You will work with UHealth Tower staff to minimize delays and uphold patient privacy and dignity.

Key duties include identifying patients, practicing proper body mechanics, transporting paperwork, monitoring equipment, and adhering to safety protocols. No prior experience required; BLS certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification or license.
• Certification and Licensing: BLS certification.
• Experience: No previous experience required.
• Learning agility, teamwork, and communication are essential.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients and/or visitors between departments and ancillary areas.
• Transfers bodies to the morgue following appropriate protocols.
• Meets productivity measures and benchmarks set by the hospital.
• Identifies correct patient and verifies identity before movement.
• Practices proper body mechanics when transferring or lifting patients.
• Observes patient condition and reports changes to nursing staff.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
• Keeps equipment and hallways clear and reports defective equipment.
