Job summary

MUSt SC Health is seeking a Patient Companion / PCT to provide one-to-one patient observation, assist with ADLs, and support unit operations under RN supervision. The role emphasizes patient safety, communication with staff, and maintaining a therapeutic environment.

Prerequisites include a High School diploma or GED and preferred healthcare experience; certification requirements include BLS. The position may require PRN shifts, varying hours, and weekend coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.
• Experience as a Patient Care Technician, Nursing Assistant, Patient Sitter, Unit Secretary, or related healthcare role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides continuous one-to-one observation of assigned patients to ensure safety.
• Maintains constant visual contact with the patient and never leaves unattended unless relieved by staff.
• Observes and reports changes in patient condition to the RN.
• Assists with activities of daily living (ADLs) as directed.
• Promotes patient comfort and safe environment.
• Documents observations and activities as required.
• Communicates effectively with nursing staff regarding patient status.
• Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPAA.
