Job summary

Mercy Health seeks a Pt Safety Companion to provide supportive patient care under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated health care professional. The role focuses on patient comfort, safety, and clear communication with the healthcare team.

Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, reporting changes to the nurse, and ensuring a safe, compassionate environment for patients and families. BLS certification may be preferred and healthcare experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Recent experience in a healthcare environment (preferred)
• Knowledge of patient safety standards and environment of care practices
• BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain prior to direct patient care)

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care support including comfort, personal care, hygiene, toileting and mobility.
• Create and maintain a safe environment for patients.
• Act as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Provide high‑level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Participate in hand-off/reporting of pertinent information at arrival and departure.
• Be prepared to perform other duties as required by supervisor.
