Crothall Healthcare, a Compass Group company, is hiring a Patient Observation Assistant for full-time and part-time roles in Columbia, SC. The position involves 12-hour shifts, no prior experience required, and a fixed pay rate of $18.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is required.
• Current CPR AED or basic life Support healthcare provider (BLS-HCP) certification required within 30 days of hire, if required at the facility.
• Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods. Requires bending, stooping, reaching up, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• One to two years of previous experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitors patient visually and audibly at all times.
• Completes observation reports at established intervals.
• Remains at bedside unless relieved by staff.
• Redirects patient from engaging in at-risk behaviors.
• Escalates concerns to medical staff when needed.
• Reports safety hazards and supports a safe environment.
• Assists with calming and reorienting patients as needed.
• Accompanies patient during diagnostic testing.
• Participates in hand-offs and coordinates meal breaks with nurses.
