Job summary

Johnston-Willis Hospital in Virginia seeks a Patient Care Technician to support the nursing team in the Surgical Care Unit. You will assist with daily patient needs, monitor vital signs, and help RNs carry out care plans in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The role requires VA CNA certification or completion of Fundamentals of Nursing, plus BLS certification and prior acute patient care experience. A mission-driven team focuses on compassionate, high-quality care for patients and families.

Qualifications

• CNA certification in VA through the Board of Health Professions preferred.
• Fundamentals of Nursing course completion preferred.
• BLS certification required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient preparation, mobility, transfers, and comfort to support care and recovery.
• Provide non-medicated care such as dressing changes and skin protection.
• Keep patient areas clean, organized, and stocked for safety and efficiency.
• Manage supplies, equipment, and logs to support infection control and team readiness.
• Communicate kindly with patients, families, and the care team to support safety and quality.
