Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago, IL seeks a Patient Care Technician to provide basic daily care, assist with hygiene and mobility under RN supervision. You will help with vital signs, intake/output, glucose checks, catheterization and feeding support, documenting care in the patient record.

You must have a high school diploma or equivalent and CNA certification or be enrolled in a nursing program, with strong communication and a patient-centered approach to teamwork in a fast-paced clinical

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CNA certification or enrollment in accredited nursing program required.
• Successful completion of the Patient Care Technician orientation.
• Competency in applying growth and development principles across age groups.
• Effective verbal, non-verbal and written communication.
• Willingness to adapt to changing work demands and environment.
• Ability to transfer and position patients up to 35 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic hygiene care and daily living activities for patients.
• Assists with intake/output, vital signs, blood glucose, and specimen collection.
• Collects and reports data to the registered nurse; monitors patient condition changes.
• Orients patient and family to environment and safety measures.
• Transports patients and care equipment as needed; documents care in nursing databases.
• Monitors supplies to ensure adequate bedside inventory.
• Performs other duties as assigned in the interest of SRAlab.
