Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support a specific patient population under RN guidance, performing direct and indirect patient care while collaborating with the inter-disciplinary team to ensure patient comfort and safety.

This role emphasizes quick learning, accountability, and ongoing education to deliver high-quality care. Eligible candidates may enter the PCT Apprenticeship Program with potential transition to the PCT role after completion.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completion of one of the following: Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant or Patient Care Technician program; Fundamentals of Nursing program; HMH PCT Apprenticeship Program; or equivalent medical background.
• Candidates meeting other requirements but not completing a program may enter the HMH PCT Apprentice Program.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care based on age and clinical needs; promote safety and comfort.
• Maintain effective communication with patients, nursing staff, and health care team.
• Record and report patient status and care provided.
• Demonstrate initiative and teamwork to improve job performance and patient outcomes.
• Participate in unit/department PI activities.

Education

Equivalent medical background (EMT, Home Health Aide, CMA, MA, PCT)
