Qualifications

• Unexpired CNA certification or EMT license preferred.
• Unexpired CNA certification or EMT license required for certain role.
• High school diploma/GED required.
• Computer based competencies required for acute care.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Requires ability to perform simple math functions.
• Ability to read and understand transcribed physician orders and chart information.

Responsibilities

• Assist nurse with admissions, discharges, transfers, pre/post-op care and treatments.
• Provide personal care (hygiene, ambulation, ADLs) as assigned.
• Perform routine treatments and specimen collections; document changes in patient condition.
• Document patient interventions in EMR.
• Assist patients at meals and with nourishments as directed.
• Make rounds frequently and respond to call lights; perform hourly rounding.
• Help maintain safe environment; manage stock and equipment; assist physicians as needed.
• Attend in-service education; maintain BLS and safety certifications.
• Demonstrate patient safety and proper use of equipment; protect patient confidentiality.
• Follow hospital mission, policies, and code of ethics.
• Demonstrate knowledge of age-specific patient care needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
