Job summary

Rochester General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. You will help with unit operations, support the care team, and ensure patient comfort and safety.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, assisting with mobility and daily activities, and supporting admissions and discharges. Strong communication and teamwork are essential in this fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18.
• CNA certification or Nursing Fundamentals or experience as a medical assistant/technician.
• Associates degree.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care & indirect activities to facilitate unit functioning.
• Participate as a member of the care delivery team.
• Provide safe and competent care addressing nutrition, skin integrity, elimination & hygiene needs.
• Take patient vital signs: temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, pain level.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork.
• Assist with ambulation, feeding, transfers or lifting of patients.
• Assist with admission, discharge and transfer of patients.
• May perform clerical duties including transcription & maintenance of patient charts.
• Assist patient mobility (sitting, standing, walking).
• Stock rooms and may handle meds, sharps and syringes on the OR field.
