Job summary

Rochester Regional Health's Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, NY is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide direct and supportive patient care under supervision of a licensed nurse. You will assist with activities of daily living, monitor vital signs, support the care team, and help with admission, transfer, and discharge.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Preferred CNA certification, Nursing Fundamentals course, or related patient care training.
• Associates degree preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care & indirect activities to facilitate unit functioning.
• Participates as a member of the care delivery team.
• Provide safe and competent care for patients with nutritional, skin integrity, elimination & hygiene needs.
• Take patient vital signs including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and pain level.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills, compassion and support for patients and families.
• Demonstrates teamwork with the care delivery team.
• Assist with ambulation, feeding, transferring or lifting of patients.
• Assist with admission, discharge and transfer of patients.
• May perform clerical duties including transcription & maintenance of patient charts.
• Assist patient mobility such as sitting, standing, and walking.
• (Cath lab only) - Stocks rooms, may handle meds, sharps and syringes on the OR field.
