Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support Registered Nurses on Med Surg/Tele on the 3rd Floor during full-time night shifts. You will assist with daily living activities, monitor vitals, and ensure safe, quality patient care.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, BLS, and experience in a hospital/clinic setting. CA CNA certification is preferred; will prepare with annual violence prevention training within 30 days. Equal rights employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• CA Nurse Assistant certification preferred.
• Annual Workplace Violence Prevention training/certificate within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Answer patient call signals, bells, or intercom systems to determine patients' needs.
• Provide physical support to help patients with daily activities.
• Review dietary restrictions, allergies, and preferences to ensure appropriate diets.
• Measure and record intake and output, report changes to medical staff.
• Record vital signs as directed by staff.
• Gather information from caregivers, nurses, or physicians about patient condition and plans.
• Observe patients for symptoms needing medical attention and distress signs.
• Document observations to nurses.
• Remind patients to take medications or supplements.
• Comply with hospital mission and values.
• Participate actively in rounding.
• Other duties as assigned.
