Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles, CA, seeks a Patient Care Tech Med Surg/Tele (4th Floor) for full-time night shifts. The role supports Registered Nurses to deliver safe, efficient, high-quality care and assists with activities of daily living.

Responsibilities include measuring vital signs, observing patient conditions, recording intake/output, and ensuring dietary needs are met. Requires BLS, hospital/clinic experience, and a willingness to participate in rounding and professional

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Six (6) months of experience in a hospital/clinic/SNF/Home Health setting as a nurse assistant or similar
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
• California State Nurse Assistant certification preferred
• Solid understanding of human anatomy and basic medical terminology is desired

Responsibilities

• Answer patient call signals to determine needs.
• Assist patients with daily living activities (bed mobility, bathing, dressing, toileting, walking).
• Review dietary restrictions and ensure appropriate diet for patients.
• Record intake/output and report changes to nursing staff.
• Record vital signs (temp, BP, pulse, respiration) as directed.
• Gather information from caregivers and clinicians about treatment plans.
• Observe patients for signs requiring medical attention and report findings.
• Document observations and report to nurses.
• Remind patients to take medications or supplements.
• Support hospital mission and values.
• Participate actively in patient rounding.
