Job summary

WH Wheeling Hospital Inc. is seeking a patient care associate to provide nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.

The role focuses on observing patient conditions, assisting with admissions/discharges, recording vitals, hygiene, and ensuring a safe environment in a fast-paced clinical setting. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and must obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
• Prior patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse.
• Assists the RN with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Records vital signs, assists in personal hygiene and other patient comfort measures.
• Records oral intake and outputs (temperature, blood pressure and other monitoring).
• Assists in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment to prevent infections and ensure safety.
• Reports equipment repairs to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicates nutrition issues to the RN.
• Supports department operations with administrative tasks.
• Answers patient call bell and relays messages to appropriate personnel.
