Job summary

Bon Secours Health System's Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support nurses and care teams in delivering high-quality patient care. You will help with basic tasks, monitor health status, and assist with routine activities under supervision.

You will sanitize rooms, document care accurately, assist with mobility, and foster patient comfort while maintaining compassionate communication with patients and families.

Qualifications

• Familiar with basic patient care tasks and essential nursing support.
• Experience in acute care, physician's office, home health, hospice, or long-term care preferred.
• BLS Basic Life Support preferred; must obtain prior to direct patient care.
• Epic EHR training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including comfort, vital signs, and personal hygiene.
• Act as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and concerns.
• Deliver high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Document patient care accurately and timely.
• Participate in hand-offs and report pertinent information on arrival and departure.
• Assist with transfers and mobility using safe techniques.
• Encourage patient independence in daily tasks.
