Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Patient Care Associate to support clinical staff under the supervision of the Clinical Nurse. The role includes direct and indirect patient care activities essential to delivering comprehensive care and PFCC principles.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, CNA or equivalent training, and at least two years of direct patient care experience or equivalent education; CPR is required and competency-based training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED; CNA or equivalent training.
• Two years of direct patient care experience or education as stated.
• Must complete Patient Care Associate competency-based training and unit competencies, including age-specific competencies.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, peers, and supervisor; CPR required.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Clinical Nurse, perform tasks to support assessment, planning and evaluation of patient needs.
• Obtain and record vital signs as delegated.
• Assist in delivering safe and efficient patient care including ECGs where trained.
• Communicate with patients, families and staff; cover BA desk in absence of BA.
