Job summary

Harris Health is seeking a Patient Care Assistant I (PCA I) to assist in clinic and inpatient units under RN supervision. The role requires basic patient care tasks, medical terminology knowledge, and effective communication.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, CNA or CMA certification, and BLS. SAMA within 90 days and EKG/phlebotomy competency within 6 months are expected.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED or technical skills/training appropriate to the specialty area.
• Licensure/Certification: Certified Nurse Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant.
• BLS from an American Heart Association hospital-based program.
• Other certificates as required by unit, service, or clinic.
• One year of related clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• The PCA I supports patient care activities under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Performs basic patient care activities, uses medical terminology, and demonstrates communication and organizational skills.
• Adheres to patient safety measures and works with the charge nurse and staff nurses.
