Job summary

Duke University Health System in Durham, NC seeks a Nursing Assistant I to provide direct patient care under the supervision of the RN/LPN. The NA assists with basic tasks, maintains asepsis, and supports everyday patient comfort in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Responsibilities include preparing patients and supplies, documenting in the EHR, taking vital signs, and assisting with admissions and discharge processes as needed. Must hold NC NA I certification and maintain BCLS.

Qualifications

• Currently listed as a Nursing Assistant I with the NC DHHS and no substantiated findings of abuse, fraud, neglect, or misappropriation.
• BCLS certification must be maintained/completed by the end of new hire orientation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients, equipment and supplies for procedures and provide assistance as required.
• Record patient data for medical records and inform RN/LPN of changes.
• Administer routine care including feeding, bathing, and ambulation as delegated.
• Take vital signs, document I&O, and report changes to the RN/LPN.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and transportation of patients.
