Qualifications

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. or equivalent is required.
• Less than 1 year of health care setting experience or completion of certified nurse assistant course is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Honesty, punctuality and adherence to Albany Medical Center's ethical standards.
• Ability to communicate cooperatively and effectively with patients, family members, employees and others.

Responsibilities

• Collects patient data including vital signs, height, weight and intake/output.
• Reports abnormal findings to the RN and care team.
• Participates in care planning and nursing report process.
• Respects patient/family rights in decision making about care.
• Keeps patients and families informed using standardized techniques.
• Provides personal care such as bathing, oral and skin care.
• Assists with eating, hydration, grooming, dressing and toileting.
• Promotes safe patient handling during restorative activities.
• Maintains a clean, orderly and safe care environment.
• Demonstrates infection control practices and documentation of care.
