Job summary

Stanford Health Care in Palo Alto seeks a Nursing Assistant to join the patient care team under RN supervision. The NA provides basic direct and indirect care, records patient information, assists with daily living activities, and maintains a clean, safe environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic.
• Ability to be patient and courteous and use active listening.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, and families, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to provide customer service in high-volume, stressful situations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Ability to learn standard nursing procedures and elicit patient information.

Responsibilities

• Observe, record and report patient information accurately.
• Assess and document vital signs for stable patients (every 4 hours).
• Assist patients with activities of daily living as assigned.
• Follow safety guidelines for self, patients, visitors and staff.
• Communicate with RN and health care team to ensure care delivery.
• Prepare, stock and maintain supplies for desk area and unit.
• Maintain a clean, orderly and safe environment.
