Job summary

UNC Health Care is seeking a Clinical Nursing Assistant to coordinate and deliver patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting. The role involves assisting with exams, procedures, admissions, discharges, and routine ADLs while maintaining a clean, organized clinical environment.

Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, specimen collection, wound care, and ensuring timely communication of patient status changes to the supervising nurse.

Qualifications

• Must have nursing assistant certification through NC Board of Nursing (e.g., Nurse Aide I).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and health care providers during examinations and procedures.
• Observe, document, and report changes in patient condition to the RN or physician.
• Assist patients and families with admission, orientation, and discharge processes.
• Provide care per the plan of care: monitor vitals, measure height/weight, collect specimens, administer basic wound care.
• Assist with activities of daily living and mobility as outlined in the care plan.
• Maintain a clean work area, manage supplies, and transport patients and specimens as needed.
• Ensure competency per the documented checklist and follow policies and procedures.
