Job summary

St. Luke’s University Health Network is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to provide direct patient care and participate in data collection, planning and implementation of patient care. You will perform essential bedside tasks under licensed personnel and help ensure patient comfort and safety.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent and basic computer skills, with BLS certification within 60 days of employment. Training may include APC/MT courses and ongoing competency development.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Health care specialty training is preferred.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• BLS certification within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs vital signs, intake/output measurements, EKGs, glucometry, phlebotomy, and specimen collection.
• Follows the treatment plan as directed by licensed personnel and ensures patient comfort and satisfaction with service.
• Communicates changes in patients’ conditions to the unit-based team and assists in orienting and educating new staff.
• Maintains unit supplies and performs equipment checks; participates in performance improvement activities.
