Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a patient care assistant to support the nursing team in delivering quality patient care. The role includes assisting with hygiene, mobility, and comfort, plus transporting patients to tests and procedures as needed.

You may also help with meal service, nourishment delivery, and basic vital sign checks under supervision. Prior medical assisting training and at least one year of patient care experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing team with patient care activities and related services for personal needs, comfort and safety.
• Assist patients with personal hygiene, dressing and walking.
• Change bed linens and assist with transportation to tests and procedures.
• Serve and collect food trays and provide between-meal nourishment.
• May record temperature or vital signs under the direction of a nurse.
