Job summary

The City of Bonner Springs is seeking a part-time Transit Driver to operate a passenger van/minibus for Tiblow Transit, serving elderly, disabled and general public. DUTIES include following demand/response schedules, collecting fares, and assisting riders.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, DOT medical card, and ability to pass random DOT tests; incumbent will perform safety checks, maintenance, and report incidents. Must be able to work day shift.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; moderate experience driving a commercial-sized transit vehicle.
• Associates/Technical degree preferred.
• DOT physical may be required.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate a passenger van/mini bus and follow a demand/response schedule; collect fares.
• Assist passengers requiring special assistance including wheelchair lift and restraints.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety and maintenance checks; identify defects; refuel and maintain fluids.
• Clean interior, search for articles left behind, clean windshield and sweep as necessary.
• Operate two-way radio communication system.
• Maintain daily passenger/trip records including addresses, mileage, and maintenance issues.
• Prepare detailed reports on incidents or accidents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
