Job summary

Peace House Community (PHC) in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a program-support role to welcome and assist community members, connect them with local resources, and help maintain a peaceful environment. The position emphasizes de-escalation, calm presence, and respectful interactions within a non-violent, inclusive setting.

Minimum qualifications include a social work or related field degree or life experience, trauma-informed awareness, and successful DHS background clearance.

Qualifications

• Ability to remain calm during tense situations.
• Ability to de-escalate tense situations without becoming personally invested.
• Ability to provide a welcoming and safe atmosphere for all people.
• Must pass a Department of Human Services background check.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming community members to the facility.
• Help them find resources to meet their needs.
• Assist the Program Manager in resolving conflicts among community members.
• Intervene in incidents that threaten the peace of the community.
• Help new members assimilate into the community.
• Ensure volunteers have a pleasant experience and feel valued.
• Represent PHC to the neighborhood and larger community.
• Assist members in abiding by community and meditation guidelines.
• Document incidents and report to staff or Board as required.
• Open and close the facility each day.
• Support PHC operations (e.g., snow removal, clean up, kitchen help).
• Other duties as assigned.
