Job summary

Mercy seeks an Oncology Nurse to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to patients undergoing cancer treatment. You will coordinate chemotherapy and related therapies, monitor symptoms, educate patients and families, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

This role emphasizes safe chemotherapy administration, documentation in the EHR, and adherence to infection control in a fast-paced oncology setting across the Midwest.

Qualifications

• Active RN license.
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Chemotherapy/biotherapy administration certification

Responsibilities

• Provide direct oncology nursing care to patients receiving chemotherapy and related therapies
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive medications safely
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and monitor for treatment side effects and complications
• Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, symptom management, and home care
• Coordinate care with physicians, pharmacists, social workers, and other team members
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
• Follow infection control and safety protocols for high-risk oncology populations
• Respond to urgent or emergent patient situations and escalate care appropriately
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice projects
• Support Mercy's culture of compassion, diversity, and continuous professional growth
