Job summary

University of California, Irvine Health seeks a Nursing Assistant to support professional nursing staff by taking vitals, assisting with hygiene, and keeping the unit safe and clean. You will stock supplies and operate hospital equipment as directed, and may perform clerical tasks.

The role requires understanding basic medical terminology, English literacy, CNA certification or enrollment in an accredited nursing program with at least one clinical semester, and current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must be able to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Must be Certified Nurses Assistant or enrolled in accredited nursing program with at least 1 clinical semester.
• Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way.
• Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
• Current BLS certification upon hire (by the AHA).

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs.
• Assist patients with hygiene and elimination.
• Maintain a clean and safe unit environment.
• Assist with stocking unit supplies.
• Operate hospital equipment as directed.
• Perform routine clerical tasks and assist with related duties.
