Responsibilities

• Maintains a secure and safe environment by staying aware of safety hazards and patient observation.
• Never leaves assigned patient unattended; accompanies patient during transport when required.
• Follows policies for patient safety, including precautions for suicide, seizures, falls, elopement; uses restraints only when appropriate.
• Attends to general patient needs and provides basic care as directed by a registered nurse.
• Assists with meal service, menu selection, and nutrition documentation as part of patient care.
• Communicates patient needs and changes to the RN caring for the patient; documents care and input on the Treatment Flowsheet.
