Job summary

Oceans Healthcare is seeking a Driver to transport patients with psychiatric needs, supporting the therapeutic environment and safety. You will coordinate with nursing and transportation staff to schedule patient pickups and drop-offs while maintaining professional standards and complying with regulations.

The role requires a high school diploma, CPR certification, and ability to work in a high-paced setting with travel up to 50% of the time.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, to write and to follow verbal and written instruction.
• Must work well with diverse populations.
• Must utilize Age, Disability and Cultural Specific knowledge in working with specialized populations to best communicate with those clients.
• Must be in good physical and mental health with a warm empathetic attitude and personal integrity.
• Must be able to work under close supervision.
• Must successfully complete CPR certification and an Oceans approved behavioral health de-escalation program.

Responsibilities

• Provides safe, timely patient transportation and supports therapeutic milieu.
• Oversees patient activities and ensures safety; accompanies licensed staff supervision.
• Adheres to facility safety regulations and external credentialing requirements.
• Follows universal precautions and infection control policies; participates in required in-services.
• Documents patient observation and transport-related data accurately.
• Communicates with Transportation Coordinator to schedule patient pickups and drop-offs.
• Notifies nursing staff of absentees or issues affecting attendance and care responsibilities.
• Participates in performance improvement, data collection, and hospital quality assessment.
