Job summary

Oceans Healthcare in Longview, TX seeks a Driver to provide transportation for patients with emotional or psychiatric disorders, supporting therapeutic milieu and safety.

The driver follows safety rules, completes vehicle checks, communicates with the Transportation Coordinator, and documents care observations.

Strong reading/writing skills and CPR/de-escalation training required; high school diploma preferred with 6 months relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Must work well with diverse populations.
• Must complete CPR certification and Oceans-approved de-escalation program.

Responsibilities

• Applies supportive behavior when assisting in controlling patients who exhibit disruptive behavior.
• Monitors patient activities and ensures safety; does not leave patients unattended.
• Follows facility safety regulations and external regulatory/credentialing bodies.
• Adheres to standard/universal precautions and infection control policies; attends required in-services.
• Documents patient observation data accurately and timely.
• Coordinates with Transportation Coordinator to schedule pickups and drop-offs for patients.
• Communicates absences or patients not able to be picked up to nursing staff.
• Participates in performance improvement, data collection, and hospital quality assessments.
• Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
