Job summary

Elderwood Village at Colonie is seeking a dedicated Medication Technician to work closely with our nursing team. You will ensure safe, timely medication assistance and provide compassionate personal care to residents in a 94-bed assisted living community.

The role combines clinical responsibilities with relationship-building to support residents’ independence while delivering high-quality care. Competitive pay and benefits available.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age
• Completion of a medication technician training program preferred
• Must pass Elderwood Medication Technician test
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Long term care experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Directs/assists with safe administration of medication to residents
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physician
• Handle storage and distribution of controlled substances
• Respond to resident requests promptly
• Document care per service standards (e-interact, change in condition, etc.)
• Report changes to nurse or physician
• Transfer residents for evaluation when needed
• Participate in shift change and handoffs
• Follow safety rules and HIPAA policies
• Assist with ADLs (bathing, dressing, eating, etc.)
• Maintain resident rights and dignity
• Attend required in-services
• Support facility operations and patient care quality
