Job summary

Newport Beach Memory Care is seeking a Medication Technician to assist in the administration of medications to residents under physician orders and supervision. The role requires strict adherence to nursing standards, facility policies, and state regulations.

You will document and report medication events, participate in quality assurance activities, and collaborate with Health Services staff and pharmacists to ensure safe and accurate medication delivery.

Qualifications

• Must possess, as a minimum, a high school education or its equivalent.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business materials.
• Ability to write reports and communicate with managers and employees.
• Must be a licensed Medication Aide with state-approved training and any necessary examination(s) in accordance with state laws.

Responsibilities

• Follow the policies and procedures of the facility governing the administering of medications to residents.
• Note and report errors in the administration of medications.
• Assist in developing and implementing procedures to determine what medication errors are taking place, where and why they occur, and how they can be prevented.
• Perform administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, charts, reports, etc., and submit these as may be required.
• Maintain a friendly, productive, working relationship with Health Services staff, attending physicians, the HSD, and pharmacists.
• Report any complaints or grievances made by residents to the Health Services Director.
• Participate in Quality Assurance programs and the Pharmaceutical Services Committee to improve medication processes.
• Accurately and safely prepare, administer, and document oral and topical medications as ordered.
