Job summary

Patient First in Chester, VA is seeking a capable assistant to support physicians and nurses in daily patient care. You will locate patients, obtain vital signs, and triage while preparing them for exams and treatments.

Responsibilities include using EMR systems, ordering labs, assisting with procedures, and maintaining sterile environments. A minimum HS diploma, 1 year clinic experience, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs are expected.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Minimum typing experience.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a hospital or physician’s office preferred.
• Ability to hear pages, bells, and phone system.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time (possibly 4 to 7 hours at a time).
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to attend scheduled CPR classes and code drills.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Willingness to work at any center due to a staffing or center emergency or reduction of work.

Responsibilities

• Locating patients, obtaining vital signs, triaging, and preparing patients for exams and treatment.
• Using the electronic medical record system.
• Ordering lab, x-ray, and medical supplies as directed.
• Notifying nurses/doctors when the patient is ready for exam and relaying questions about labs or x-ray needs.
• Assisting nurses and physicians with patient care.
• Handling physician/nurse requests promptly and respectfully.
• Performing lab duties and phlebotomy as assigned.
• Sterilizing and setting up instruments.
• Receiving, storing, and restocking supplies; cleaning treatment areas.
• Reporting to the Charge Nurse before leaving the shift.
