Job summary

Ochsner Health in New Orleans is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide individualized patient care under supervision. You will assist with in-person, electronic, and telephone encounters, support the provider, and ensure smooth patient flow throughout visits.

Required: High School Diploma/GED and Medical Assistant Certification with BLS. Preferred: formal medical assistant training. You will work within a team, maintain patient privacy, and document accurately in company systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of a formal medical assistant training program is preferred.
• Medical Assistant Certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association are required.

Responsibilities

• Supports the patient and provider throughout the visit.
• Ensures the patient and provider are prepared for the visit.
• Answers patient questions prior to leaving; prepares room for next appointment.
• Provides excellent patient service through effective communication both over the phone and in person.
• Completes patient registration and documentation as needed.
• Maintains clinical knowledge, skills, and credentials through ongoing development.
• Adheres to DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing requirements in occupational health settings if applicable.
