Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to keep daily operations smooth for patients and the clinical team. You will lead in preparing patient charts and ensuring information is current for those seen in our facility.

You will perform phlebotomy, EKGs, basic lab procedures, and assist with exams; document patient encounters in EMR and coordinate appointments and referrals as needed. A strong empathetic patient focus and efficient teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assistant certification for WA required upon hire.
• CPR/BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet and prepare patients, collect vital signs, medical history, medications, and allergies.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, basic lab procedures, and assist with examinations.
• Document encounters and update electronic medical records with accuracy.
• Schedule appointments, referrals, and coordinate patient flow across departments.
• Prepare, sterilize, and maintain exam rooms; manage supplies and equipment.
• Educate patients, handle calls, verify insurance, registrations, and payments; escalate issues as needed.
