Responsibilities

• Serve as a patient advocate during patient exam and treatment.
• Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure vital signs.
• Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
• Record medical history, medications, allergies, vitals and test results.
• Ensure proper consent forms are obtained prior to treatment.
• Prepare and administer medications following safety protocols.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for testing.
• Explain treatments, medications, diets, wound care, and physician instructions.
• Assist physicians with examinations and procedures, including injections and sutures.
• Authorize drug refills under provider direction and relay prescription information.
• Prepare treatment rooms, keep them neat and sterile.
• Inspect sterile items and maintain organized sterile fields.
• Assist with surgical procedures while maintaining sterility.
• Monitor patient condition and notify provider of distress.
• Clean rooms and medical equipment between patients and at day end.
• Dispose of infection waste and biohazard materials safely.
• Schedule patient appointments and coordinate test/admission timing.
• Change dressings on wounds.
• Greet patients arriving at the office or clinic.
• Inventory and restock instruments and supplies.
• Perform routine laboratory tests and document results.
• Document procedures accurately and timely.
• Respond to emergencies per policies and protocols.
• Assist in medical emergencies and proper documentation.
• Order and manage medical emergency supplies monthly.
