Job summary

American Family Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider in an outpatient clinic setting. This role works with franchised AFC locations and duties/benefits may vary by franchise.

Responsibilities include taking vitals, preparing for exams, performing tests, phlebotomy, lab work, and maintaining accurate documentation. AFC emphasizes patient care and flexible scheduling across its nationwide clinics.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school, or six months to one year related experience and/or training.
• AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam.
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure.
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing and/or in‑house processing.
• Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions.
• Respond to all lab messages and call back requests.
• Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations.
• Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure.
• Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as‑needed basis.
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
