Job summary

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited medical assistant program with externship.

• Experience with an EMR system is preferred.
• Six months of specialty clinic experience is possible.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination, obtain vital signs and chief complaint, and document information.
• Perform laboratory and diagnostic testing.
• Answer, screen and triage telephone calls and distribute messages.
• Schedule tests and referral appointments for patients.
• Administer oral and injectable medications and relay prescriptions to pharmacies.
• Promote patient and family teaching and provide an educational environment.
• Work in care registries to improve quality of care.
• Maintain logs, checks and equipment; participate in policy development.
• Cross-train to support clerical and clinical duties.
• Inventory, restock, and ensure environmental safety.
