Qualifications

• One year or more of experience in a medical setting preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of medical terminology is required.
• Knowledge of sterile technique, anatomy, and medications.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a patient advocate during exams and treatment.
• Interview patients to obtain medical information and vital signs.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
• Record medical history, medications, allergies and vital statistics.
• Obtain proper consent forms prior to procedures.
• Assist with medications under physician direction and safety protocols.
• Collect and prepare lab specimens for testing.
• Explain treatments, medications, and post-care instructions to patients.
• Assist physicians during examinations and procedures, including injections and suturing.
• Coordinate referrals, tests, and admissions as needed.
• Maintain clean, stocked treatment rooms and proper waste disposal.
• Prepare and document procedures in medical records.
• Respond to emergencies according to policy and protocol.
