Job summary

St. Luke’s University Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians by preparing patients, recording vitals, and performing routine procedures. You will manage scheduling, referrals, intake, and front-desk duties to ensure smooth clinic operations.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or MA program graduate, 1 year of clinical experience or MA program completion, and BLS/CPR certification. Strong customer service and teamwork are strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience is strongly preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduate of Medical Assistant program or 1 year of clinical experience is required.
• BLS/CPR certification must be current or obtained within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and improves quality improvement initiatives.
• Manages scheduling of appointments and tracking of referrals.
• Opens and closes office as required.
• Assists in capturing patient demographic information.
• Participates in department activities and team problem-solving.
• Performs pre-visit planning by reviewing patient records and coordinating with care providers.
• Pre-charting of value-based pieces up to 5 days prior to appointment.
• Communicates with Care Team as warranted.
• Prepares patients for examinations and escorts to exam room, collecting vitals and updating records.
• Provides patient care services including maintaining exam rooms, cleaning, instrument sterilization, injections, phlebotomy, and basic procedures as scoped by practice.
• Disposes of biohazardous waste and maintains vaccine logs and inventory.
• Assists with scheduling outpatient testing and referral processing; responds to patient communications; manages medication refills and patient information packets.
• Coordinates with providers and care coordinators regarding discharge, visits, and follow-up to ensure adherence.
