Job summary

Aspens at Fort Collins is seeking a dedicated care assistant to support residents in Heartful Care. You will supervise self-administration of medications, assist with ADLs, dining, and light housekeeping, and engage residents with empathy and respect.

In this role you will observe changes in health, maintain safety, and participate in leisure activities per the activity calendar. You will uphold HIPAA, communicate clearly, and collaborate with team to ensure a dignified environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• One to two years related experience and/or training.
• Med-Tech certification.

Responsibilities

• Supervises self-administration of medication for residents.
• Assists with ADL's, meal service, light housekeeping, and laundry while encouraging resident independence.
• Speaks to/interacts with residents at all levels of care constantly, with empathy, kindness, compassion, and respect.
• Observes and reports to supervisor daily and all changes in the resident’s health and emotional well-being.
• Serves and assist residents in the dining room at breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.
• Responsible for initiating and participating in leisure activities described in the activity calendar.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment for all residents at all times.
• Performs daily general housekeeping duties following established cleaning schedules.
• Ensures and supports a dignified and caring atmosphere for residents, families, visitors, and associates.
• Always responds promptly and courteously to resident's requests for assistance including phone calls and requests from family members and visitors.
• Communicates effectively in a language that each resident is capable of understanding.
• Ensures residents and/or responsible parties sign residents out when they leave the community.
• Maintains a safe and secure working environment free of objects/situations that could cause harm and/or falls.
• Practices good body mechanics and safe working habits at all times.
• Observes and reports safety hazards immediately to supervisor.
• Provides assistance to associates when requested or required.
• Knows, understands, and follows established policies and procedures in emergency situations.
• Essential personnel during emergencies and/or inclement weather; report/remain until released.
• Works as a team player with other associates and management in accomplishing work assignments.
• Demonstrates a positive and respectful attitude about work issues, policies, and procedures at all times.
• Demonstrates a positive and respectful attitude with residents, families, visitors, associates and management at all times.
• Complies with attendance and call off policy.
• Attends trainings, in-service, and mandatory meetings.
• Wears clean and appropriate dress per policy.
• Refrains from discussing resident care issues with families and visitors; refers inquiries to supervisor.
• Knows, understands, and complies with HIPAA regulations.
• Assists with training of new employees.
• Assists in mentoring new employees.
• Takes initiative, seeks information, and offers solutions without asking.
• Takes on special projects outside regular duties.
• Provides housekeeping and/or laundry duties to maintain cleanliness.
• Performs all other reasonable duties as assigned.
