Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an LPN at Jersey City Medical Center to support patient care and clinical operations in an on-site setting. The role involves ensuring smooth patient flow, administering immunizations, performing tests, and maintaining clean, stocked exam rooms.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program with a valid LPN certification.
• Active LPN license in good standing from the State of New Jersey.
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bilingual proficiency is considered a strong asset for communicating with diverse patient population.

Responsibilities

• Assures orderly flow of patients by greeting, escorting, and preparing for clinical examinations.
• Administers immunizations and clinical injections as directed by provider.
• Performs diagnostic testing and laboratory procedures including venipunctures, urinalysis, glucose and hemoglobin assessments, peak flows, and ECGs.
• Prepares and processes laboratory specimens for official processing.
• Takes vital signs, documents medical history, and schedules follow-up appointments.
• Maintains examination rooms and treatment areas, ensuring cleanliness and stock.
• Observes and records patient conditions, reporting changes to providers.
• Manages medical records and patient charts, updating test results and reports.
• Delivers medication and treatment plan instructions per provider.
• Periodically checks expiration dates on medications and supplies to ensure patient safety.
• Reports safety issues, equipment failures, or billing concerns to the Practice Manager.
